The great illustrator and writer from UK was in Detroit in September! He was visiting Niagara and The Colonel??? We went to the DIA, Pegasus, and Peoples Records. Then he drew me a picture!!!

Cancer is getting way too popular!!! Everybody knows someone that has died or is dying of cancer. After our friend Dave McGlasson died of cancer earlier this year WINDY & CARL at STORMY RECORDS decided to have a wake/cancer benefit concert in his honor. Featuring WINDY & CARL, ODD CLOUDS and METAL DUNGEON, all proceeds go directly to the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY. Minimum donation $5.00 please.

SCOTT HOCKING artshow at HILBERRY GALLERY in Ferndale, Michigan

SCOTT HOCKING has had artshows all over the world including THE DETROIT INSTITUTE OF ARTS and the SUZANNE HILBERRY GALLERY. When he asked me to be in his latest show I said "cool!". So then he gave me a BEAVER and told me to paint it up real nice, like one of those public art projects that are happening all over the USA. You know the ones where they give you a big fiberglass cow or some other animal and they ask you to paint it in your style to make it look nice so they can display it on the street??? Well Scott Hocking decided to buy a bunch of animals with his own money at the real-fiberglass-animals-store then he "fixed-them-up" and then he gave them to a bunch of artists to paint. I don't know what the show is called but it sure sounds fun!!! So here's my BEAVER I just got, it's caught in a trap so I'm gonna paint it like an ICE CREAM SUNDAE!!! Then JIM STORM taught me about BONDO so I made a CHERRY for the top!!! It's almost done!!!

Calling all campers!!! Since 1995 TIME STEREO and PRINCESS DRAGONMOM have teamed-up every summer to bring NOISE CAMP to all the kids in Detroit!!! This year we are so excited to be holding this annual electro-acoustic celebration at THE CONTEMPORARY ART INSTITUTE OF DETROIT!!! CPOP was great (8 years straight!) but we really wanted to have a real campfire (CAID has a fire-pit) and a cool NOISE CAMP artshow in the trailer (CAID has an outdoor gallery). Thanks for all the good times CPOP!!! There will be something for everyone this year at NOISE CAMP!!! Have a snack at the RAW FOODS HUT. Make something nice at the ARTS&CRAFTS TABLE. Kids will love getting a NOISE CAMP haircut, adults will love taking a drink from the HOLLOW LOG or getting FIRST-AID from the NOISE CAMP NURSES (this year Sarah & Sarah from WOUND). And everyone will love the harsh electronic noise coming from PRINCESS DRAGONMOM'S tent at midnite!!!

ARTSHOW AT MOTOR CITY -- One nite only!!!

I've been getting ready for another artshow, this time at Detroit's MOTOR CITY BREWERY!!! You may know that Graem Whyte has been curating his THIS WEEK IN ART artshows at the MOTOR CITY BREWERY every Wednesday nite. Each week a single artist installs an artshow in the intimate space inside Detroit's coolest brewery. On July 26, 2006 it's time for ME to show some new work and have some fun at MCBW!!! The artwork will be CHEAP because I want to make it available to the kids. These artworks will not be available online because this show for LOCALS ONLY!!! Sorry!!! Please come to MOTOR CITY BREWING WORKS on Wednesday, July 26 for a really FUN artshow!!!

BOUNTY FROM THE SEA

Jamie Easter and I had an awesome oceanic BBQ with scallops, octopus and shark & some jalapenos on the side. Yum!!!

There was a QUEEN theme artshow&concert at the Belmont in Hamtramck on Saturday June 30. I decided to try and draw the NEWS OF THE WORLD album cover as fast as I could and completely from memory. As an 8 or 10 year old I used to love looking at that cover when I went to Tim Weidner's house (he was a couple of years older and he had teenage brothers & sisters. There were a lot of cool albums there by KISS, ALICE COOPER, CHEAP TRICK, QUEEN and TED NUGENT). This cover and many others I used to look at were confusing to my little-kid mind. Why was the robot killing the band??? I hadn't seen the cover in a long time and I don't own a copy. I think I did a pretty good job!!!

HOLLYWOOD MOVIE???

Might this painting appear in a Hollywood movie??? It was purchased for use in MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS, the first English language film by KAR WAI WONG (the Hong Kong director that made 2046 and IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE). I sure hope it makes the final cut!!!
